Welcome to the Trans-Atlantic Neuroscience Teaching Network (TANTEN)

TANTEN is a graduate-level exchange program in Neuroscience involving four universities: Dalhousie University and the University of Montreal in Canada, Maastricht University in The Netherlands, and the University of Cologne in Germany. Students enrolled in the MSc program at one of these universities may receive funding to conduct research and/or take courses at a participating university on the other side of the Atlantic.
TANTEN is funded by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada and The Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency in the EU.
As neuroscience research becomes more advanced and specialized, it becomes difficult for individual universities to provide high-level training in all of these areas. Individual institutions thus develop unique strengths and training opportunities, centered around both people and infrastructure. There is a great need, however, to offer talented students a broad and excellent range of courses in different fields of neuroscience. The partner universities in this consortium have complementary strengths, both in terms of areas of research excellence and teaching styles.
Students and faculty will benefit through broader opportunities for research collaboration. This will benefit not only the students who travel on exchange, but all students at the universities involved by creating a more internationally diverse learning environment and rich opportunities for the exchange of ideas and information.
